BUTTE, Mont. — The owner of a downtown Sandpoint photography business was killed in a June 13 crash that also critically injured his wife and daughter. SAGLE — Christine Davis knew she didn't want to be slimed ... again. It was that stipulation that found the Sagle Elementary principal on top of a rather large horse June 6, the last day of school. Davis had been slimed — repeatedly — the previous year after Sagle Elementary students exceeded all their goals in the PTA fundraiser. SANDPOINT — For the next few weeks, travel on Boyer Road north of the fairgrounds will mean the long way around. Severe structural issues of a culvert at the Sand Creek crossing prompted the city to close the road and set up a detour of the site. The closure is effective immediately and necessary to ensure public safety, Sandpoint officials said in a press release.

"The hope is to have a community center that meets the needs for the community," said Michael DiBenedetto, president of the nonprofit Ponderay Aquatic Center Endowment, the group leading the charge on the proposed community center.

SANDPOINT — Like many of the community's nonprofits, the Bonner Community Food Bank is feeling the strain of rising costs. But community support and grants from organizations such as the Idaho Community Foundation keep it going, food bank Executive Director Debbie Love recently told foundation officials. "It's getting harder to meet the needs of our community," Love said.
