To be part of this ParticipACTION Community Challenge, today Lethbridge Family Services held an Interpretive Nature Hike in Pincher Creek with staff and newcomers. Najib Mangal, Manager, Community Connections, LFS says the experience is designed to help newcomers to Canada not only explore the outdoors but feel a true sense of connection to their new home.
Today Marks The 81st Anniversary Of D-Day

Today marks the 81st Anniversary of D-Day. June 6th, 1944, allied forces stormed five beaches off the coast of Nazi-occupied France. The invasion used the largest-ever armada of ships, troops, planes and vehicles to breach Hitler’s defenses in western Europe. 44 hundred soldiers were killed on D-Day itself. In the ensuing Battle of Normandy, 73 thousand allied forces were killed and 153 thousand wounded. Glenn Miller with the Lethbridge Military Museum reminds us, peace comes at a price….

Alberta Supports Survivors Of Sexual Violence With Counselling

In trauma cases, counseling is a fundamental part of the healing process. Knowing this, the Alberta government is investing an additional $1.5 million to support access to counseling and therapy services at sexual assault centers. These funds will, of course, impact the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre in Lethbridge, according to its CEO, Kristine Cassie. Instead of having one therapist, they will be able to have a second one.

Lethbridge's BCN Anchor Named In Word Search Puzzle

A man from Newfoundland and Labrador designed a word search book specifically about Alberta. It features over 100 word search puzzles that include categories like iconic landmarks, communities, waterfalls, parks, sports teams and even a “News Anchors” section featuring BCN anchor, Jeannette’s name hidden within the puzzle. Nick Cranford has already published word search books for eight of the provinces and the three terrorizes, and plans to design one for the nation of Canada as a whole.
Lethbridge Police Seize Nearly $500,000 In Drugs

A seizure of nearly half a million dollars was the result of a massive drug bust yields by Lethbridge Police, which also charged two people with drug trafficking. According to the Sgt. Ashlin Snowdon with Lethbridge Police Service as far as cocaine and MDMA quantities, this is one of the largest seizures that Police Service have had in recent history in the city.
