    Operation Christmas Child is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has collected more than 200 million shoeboxes to distribute to children in need around the world. There are even Lethbridge locations where folks can can drop off a special shoebox.     The Lethbridge Disc Golf community has sadly lost a special player. Scott Jardine was instrumental in helping keep the sport of disc golf running in our city. His sister Lisa Nuell posted on Facebook that her brother’s heart failed at the tender age of 51. The Lethbridge Disc Golf Association is hosting a Memorial Round for Scott event at Nicholas Sheran Park on October 22nd at 1pm to honour him. Rebecca Johnson knew Jardine and says he will be sorely missed.

    More money will be going to bring in more qualified nurses to Alberta. The province announced that $11 million will go toward nurse bridging programs to help train internationally educated nurses. Advanced Education Minister Rajan Sawhney was at the University of Lethbridge to unveil the news and says these nurses will now have access to an additional 1,221 spaces at post-secondary institutions so they can complete the programs they need for certification in Alberta.
