Canal+

Canal+

Canal+ (also known as "Canal Plus" or "C+") is a premium cable television channel from France that started in 1984. It is fully owned by the Canal+ Group, which is part of Vivendi SA. The channel offers a variety of programming, most of which is encrypted, meaning viewers need a subscription to access it. However, there are some programs available for free on Canal+ and via satellite on Canal+ Clair (Clear). Canal+ actively supports the Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) initiative, which is a collaboration of companies from the broadcasting and internet sectors, like SES, OpenTV, and Institut für Rundfunktechnik. This initiative aims to create an open European standard for hybrid set-top boxes that allow users to access both broadcast TV and broadband multimedia services through a single, user-friendly interface.
