Head boat trips provide access to deep water speciesFishing from a head boat is one of the quickest and least-expensive ways to catch a lot of fish to which most anglers don’t have easy access. All along the Carolina coastlines, these boats, aka party boats, head out every morning for a day of bottom-fishing. Getting aboard one of these can help you stock your freezer with grouper, snapper and a number of other great-tasting fish.

Carolina anglers are very familiar with bluegillBluegills (Lepomis macrochirus) are one of the most popular and populous fish in America. And for many anglers, it’s the very first fish they ever caught. His most recent trip was to the Cooper River. It’s not the most popular bream hole in the Carolinas, but Lloyd said it definitely should be one of them.

Great weather, hot bream fishingI’ve always loved the month of May. That’s partly because my birthday is this month. And it’s partly because growing up, it was the last full month of school before summer vacation. But mostly, it’s because at some time this month, the weather will enable me to leave my house before the sun rises, fish all day long, and return home after the sun goes down, all while wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, a shirt, and a pair of sandals.
