Center for Health Reporting

Welcome to the Center for Health Reporting, an innovative journalism initiative focused on highlighting crucial health-care issues that affect residents of California. As an independent news organization, our sole purpose is to uphold the highest standards of journalism. Based at the Leonard Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at USC, we are entering our seventh year of operation. We have established a network of nearly 50 news outlets throughout the state, dedicated to addressing challenging questions regarding health care quality, costs, and accessibility for Californians. We are always looking for new media partners to collaboratively investigate health stories that resonate on local, state, and national levels. Since our inception in 2009, we have completed over 130 projects in collaboration with various media, including the largest daily newspapers in the state, small publications serving rural and diverse communities, NPR affiliates, and online news platforms. Our efforts have contributed to changes in state legislation, garnered awards, and provided valuable support to our audience as they navigate the complexities of federal health care reforms.
