Central Florida Public Media is a non-profit organization that relies on its members for support. It serves the community through public broadcasting and operates 90.7 FM News, which is the main source for NPR shows in metro Orlando, as well as 90.7 HD-2 Classical. Since its establishment in 1965, the organization has been dedicated to delivering high-quality national and local news and programming to its audience.

Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday issued an executive order suspending Orlando District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill, following Hill’s arrest last week. Hill was arrested Thursday after a grand jury indicted her on seven charges, including three counts of elderly abuse and four counts of fraud. She pleaded not guilty at a hearing last week.

The St. Johns River Water Management District appears poised to receive $400 million to spend on land for a massive new reservoir and stormwater treatment area (STA), according to an item towards the back of this year’s General Appropriations Act, House Bill 5001. Plans for the Grove Land Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area project have been in the works for several years.

The Florida Cabinet voted this week to spend more than $34 million to acquire and protect 1,361 acres of rural Seminole County land on Yarborough Ranch for conservation, via the state’s Florida Forever program. It’s the first Florida Forever project in Seminole County, according to a county press release. A family-owned, working cattle ranch for several generations, the Yarborough Ranch property is surrounded by several existing conservation lands, including the Little Big Econ State Forest.

In 1995, Space Shuttle Endeavour blasted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, carrying a crew of seven, including mission specialist Wendy Lawrence. It was the first of four space missions for Lawrence, a journey that started decades earlier when as a kid, she watched the first people walk on the moon in 1969. “I don't know what it was about watching Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin do something that had never been done before,” Lawrence said.
