Talon Marks serves as the official student newspaper for Cerritos College, located in Norwalk, California. Established in 1955, Cerritos College is a public community college that covers an area of 52 square miles in southeastern Los Angeles County. The college provides degrees and certificates across 87 different fields of study, organized into nine divisions. Each year, over 1,200 students graduate successfully from their programs.

Dog Night in Lakewood

The Angel City Market held a dog night at the Lakewood Center with a number of people from the community showing up on Jan. 17. The event was held in the Target parking lot and had a Dj and food truck along with small business vendors looking to sell their items. One of the businesses that drew a lot of attendees was The Puppy Bakery which is owned by Miguel Bolden. “We sell cakes for dogs, we do donuts, we do macarons, we do dry treats, literally boss like a little bit everything,” Bolden said.
Miracle: A Christmas themed bar in Long Beach

Miracle is a Christmas themed pop-up cocktail bar that is hosted at The Ordinarie Tavern in Long Beach. The Ordinaire Tavern serves American comfort food, beer, wine and cocktails and is located in the The Promenade. Just as Christmas is around the corner The Ordinaire fully decorates the entire place with Christmas decor. Miracle pop-up opened on Nov. 21 and will end on New Years Eve. The tables are wrapped up to look like presents and so are the walls and chairs.

The Common Space Brewery hosted Mayumi Market at 3411 W. El Segundo Blvd in Hawthorne on Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maymui Market is a showcase for Asian American and Pacific Island business vendors. The market was an indoor outdoor event with food tasting, a bar and featured DJ Grace Ktown making good beats on the turntable. The Mayumi Market was recently shown on KCAL 9 News.

Norwalk young adults say housing bans hurt them most

Norwalk residents facing housing insecurities say they’re deeply opposed to the city’s moratorium on emergency and affordable housing options. They’re concerned the policy will ultimately hurt the city’s most vulnerable – youth and young adults. Ebony Green, 32, is a resident of Norwalk who is currently challenged with homelessness. Green said she is unhappy with the city of Norwalk banning new homeless shelters and supportive housing.
Falcons win to advance to third round

Heading into the Southern California Regional Playoffs, the Falcons were seated fourth which got them a first round bye. Which they will face the Vaqueros, who beat the Rustlers Before kick off it started to rain lightly which made the grass slippery. To the start of the first half, the Falcons came out on the attack.
