    Colorado’s congressional and local leaders are responding to a proposed budget reconciliation bill that proposes making more than 250 million acres of public lands eligible for sale. The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee (SENR) budget reconciliation bill proposed by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), released June 11 and updated June 14, would force the sale of at least two million acres of U.S. Forest Service lands and Bureau of Land Management lands in 11 western states over the next five years.

    The Buena Vista Police Department and the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on June 18 that resulted in the arrests of Cameron Gordanier and Christina Hussey. According to a June 19 press release, BVPD officers had been investigating leads that two wanted felons were hiding at 115 Hill Street in Buena Vista and obtained the search warrant.

    As rodeo bulls stamp and snort, bucking their riders as they burst into the arena, a bright red barrel stands in the middle of it all, bearing a crucial member of the safety team: the rodeo clown. He’s easy to spot in and out of the arena as he chats with rodeo fans and trades commentary with the emcee. At the Collegiate Peaks Stampede, the rodeo clown is decked out in signature blue overalls, a red shirt and a comically large blue 50-gallon foam hat.

    The Upper Ark Wilderness Volunteers gathered near the South Cottonwood Trailhead of the Colorado Trail on June 7, equipped with saws and earth-movers as they prepared to train new volunteers in limbing, water erosion work and more. The group was formed in 2012 as a subchapter of the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association. UAWV volunteers give their time to check trail conditions, clear fallen and encroaching trees and limbs and regrade water runoff paths on trails.
