After a loss to the CSCHS Lions last week, the Lady Demons bounced back for a resounding 10-0 victory over Ellicott on Apr. 8. “The girls played great soccer,” said coach Kinsey Bowdle. “They kept possession of the ball and moved forward on purpose!”Eva Montgomery led the team in scoring with three goals, followed by Evelyn Hachmann and Adeline Smith with two each and Cora DeWalt, Hannah Wingo and Macy Reavis each contributing one goal. “Eva had a fantastic game,” Bowdle said.

Chaffee County Public Health, the Town of Buena Vista and The Book Club Salida are teaming up to host an April 24 book club event on “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt. Haidt’s book covers the mental health crisis affecting today’s youth, the impacts of social media and smartphones and the importance of imaginative play. Emily Anderson, deputy director of CCPH, says the inspiration for the book club was twofold.
