The planning board approved the site plan for the Flatiron Energy Energizer Storage battery storage facility proposed for 284 Eastern Ave. at its regular meeting last week. In addition, the board recommended approval of a special permit and variances for the project when it comes before the zoning board of appeals on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Flatiron Energy is an energy developer, owner, and operator that owns and operates the energy storage systems it develops.
City Manager Provides Update on Opioid Settlement Funds

The Charlestown Neighborhood Council held a special neighborhood meeting Sept. 26 to form a soccer stadium committee, and the results were productive. With CNC Chair Tom Cunha presiding, the Council met with a group of residents and determined that a main committee and four sub-committees will be established once the the change in language is made by legislators that would allow for the site in Everett to be used for a new soccer stadium.

City Council Honors Ned Keefe for Years of Service to Chelsea

Ned Keefe was honored by the city council on Monday night for his more than three decades of service to Chelsea, most notably as the deputy city manager. Keefe began working in the city’s department of planning and community development in 1993 and became the director of the department in 2002. He was appointed deputy city manager in 2008 by then city manager Jay Ash and served under Ash and Thomas Ambrosino.
