The Monmouthshire Beacon, established on October 18, 1837, boasts a rich legacy in the county. In its formative years, the Beacon served as a vital source of news when radio and television did not exist. It reported on local happenings while also keeping its audience updated on global events. Initially launched in Agincourt Square, Monmouth, by Thomas Farror, the newspaper remained there for almost four decades before relocating to the Monmouth Market Hall in 1876.
