Be the Light Society (BTLS), is a registered, non-profit charity focused on creating community through education and impact to help South Asian women and girls transcend beyond gender, cultural, and social barriers. In 2024,the BTLS reached its ambitious goal to donate twenty-two $2,500 scholarships to deserving South Asian girls in financial need in BC high schools, totaling $55,000 raised.

SD73 schools remain safe despite increase in COVID-19 exposures, says Superintendent

While there have been at least 14 COVID-19 cases at Sa-Hali Secondary, the superintendent for School District 73 says schools in general continue to remain safe places. Speaking to NL News, Terry Sullivan though admits the situation is concerning with at least 18 staff and about 200 students self-isolating as of the last update yesterday. “It is frustrating I think for people, especially in the wake of the Christmas holidays that we are seeing these increases,” he said.
