CHPB-FM is an adult contemporary radio station located in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada, operating at a frequency of 98.1 MHz on the FM band. The station started its broadcasts in 2003 and was initially owned by Tri-Tel Communications. Later, on November 19, 2003, the Haliburton Broadcasting Group received permission to take over ownership of CHPB-FM from Tri-Tel.

Nostalgia was not uncommon in Cochrane last week, when the former Legion Hall on Second Ave. caught fire. Our local history feature this week looks back. Roy Mitchell wrote a brief history of the Branch 89 Hall that appeared in the Cochrane Times in November, 1999. The original Legion hall was in a converted judge’s house on Sixth Avenue. Drivers of the 500 vehicles that cross the trestle bridge over the Abitibi River in Iroquois Falls every month are facing a toll increase.
