    The lowest income threshold of £500,000 proposed for the next version of the charities accounting framework is too low and could burden smaller charities, audit firm RSM UK has said. The updated version of Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), a consultation on which closed today, proposes three tiers of guidelines based on annual income levels, the lowest of which is £500,000.

    A digital platform developed by the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) has today opened for charities to register. RVS has urged charities of all sizes and causes across the UK to upload volunteering roles for free to the platform ahead of its public launch scheduled for the autumn. When launched publicly, potential volunteers will be able to browse causes and charities they care about through the platform.

    Catch22, a charity that supports young people in need, transferred £33.6m-worth of assets last year as it stopped operating seven schools, its latest accounts show. During the year, the Ashwood Academy, Austen Academy, Brunel Academy, Burton Academy, Coppice Springs Academy, Fen Rivers Academy and Spires Academy transferred out of the charity’s multi-academies trust (MAT).

    Many people working in the charity sector have been recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours. Sector leadership body ACEVO’s former chair Rosie Ferguson, Charity Retail Association’s chief executive Robin Osterley and Locality’s CEO Tony Armstrong all received OBEs for their work in the sector. Richard Kramer, former chief executive of disability charity Sense, was also awarded an OBE for services to people with disabilities.
