    A Christian charity in the West Midlands has breached the fundraising code by being directly involved in drafting one of its supporter's wills, an investigation has found. The Fundraising Regulator has found that the Centrepoint Christian Church breached the code when an employee drafted a supporter’s will in August 2021, while one of the charity’s trustees was a witness. Under the Code of Fundraising Practice, charities must not be directly involved in the drafting of wills in their favour.

    The National Deaf Children’s Society has appointed George Crockford, chief operating officer at the Teenage Cancer Trust, as its next chief executive. Crockford succeeds Susan Daniels, who announced in January she would step down after 33 years in the top role. Daniels is not moving to another job, but instead plans to spend time travelling with her family after her departure.

    The voluntary sector’s workplace culture is “surviving, not thriving”, the chief executive of Mind has warned. Speaking at the Third Sector Conference in London, Sarah Hughes told delegates that the sector was facing an “era of disgruntlement”, with challenges such as poor trust, a failure of communication between leaders and the workforce and no shared definition of equity.
