    Students from across the Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) impressed at a recently held local Skills Ontario Competition at Listowel District Secondary School. Students from three high schools competed in two carpentry and welding events. Sarah Darou and Hayley King from Listowel competed against Dylan McNeil and Braydon Curran from Goderich District Collegiate Institute in the carpentry competition.

    A stomach-turning scene reminiscent of a horror movie saw turkey remnants sprawled across four lanes of Highway 7/8 (Ontario Street) on Wednesday afternoon. Stratford FD said they received a call at 4:33 p.m. and arrived to find turkey remnants and fluids all over the road. Failure to wear a seatbelt caused or was a contributing factor in the deaths of 60 people involved in collisions on OPP-patrolled roads last year. This Easter long weekend, police are conducting a seatbelt safety campaign. Officers will be checking vehicles on the roads, ensuring drivers and passengers are wearing their seatbelts.
