The Porsche 906 won its class at many of the big races of its day–Daytona, Sebring, Monza and the Targa Florio. This made it an enticing vehicle to buy for privateers and this car, Chassis No. 906-140, which retains its factory frame number, aluminum chassis tag, and serialized magnesium-cased racing gearbox, is a prime example of that. Earle M. Chiles, an heir to the Fred Meyer supermarket chain in the Northwest, bought this 906 new and campaigned it in SCCA and USRRC events mostly in that region.

By Tim SuddardWhen we first reviewed BMW’s current G20-chassis 3 Series upon its arrival back in 2018, we lamented the lack of a manual transmission as well as the high price. Agajanian is not only known for his two Indy 500 wins, but also as one of motorsports’ greatest promoters. “Corky’s comin’: Smell the rubber burn. Hear the women scream,” that’s the actual words from a promo poster promoting the 1972 film “Corky,” starring Robert Blake. This is the Plymouth Barracuda the titular character drives throughout the movie. Harry Bentley Bradley designed the Barracuda. He’s best known for penning the initial line of Hot Wheels in 1968 and the 1995 version of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. George Barris and Richard “Korky” Korkes–who both worked on the 1960s Batmobile–built it.
