Friday at Epic was awesome for all the obvious reasons. But it was un-awesome for one reason that was probably not obvious to most of the world. It was the day my teenage daughter turned against me. That’s right, folks. For no apparent reason, Gracie woke up Friday morning and determined I was The Most Obnoxious Person on Earth. I’ve heard of this happening. People say it happens in the blink of an eye. Teenage girls turn on your faster than Jay Z at a Diddy trial.

The Ministry of Magic section of the park was beautiful, even if the rides weren’t working. It was designed to look like you were on the streets of Paris, and it did not disappoint!The green awning on the right in this next picture is the entrance to the Ministry of Magic ride…There were a few really good looking restaurants in this section that we definitely would have had a meal at if we weren’t still full from lunch.

When you come out of the portal tunnel, you are IMMEDIATELY IMMERSED in the Super Mario World. I’m not even kidding. I stood there for 10 minutes just looking at everything. It looked like you stepped inside your 1992 TV at a sleepover with your best friend and entered into the world of Mario, Luigi, and Donkey Kong. Once we had our bearings inside the world, we decided to have lunch at The Toadstool Cafe.

One of the perks of living in Orlando is all the theme parks. We live between Universal and Disney. On cloudy nights, when the cloud coverage makes it easier to hear them, we can hear the fireworks from both parks. Chris and I cut through Universal property to get to the interstate every day when we go to work.

Yesterday, I had a conversation with some coworkers about the amount of animals in my house. There are many. We recently lost one (RIP Chip the Hamster), but even with that loss, we have two dogs, a bearded dragon, and my kitchen fish, Sue (short for sous chef, of course).

Things that have made me happy lately:- Eating my lunch outside watching all the seniors take their graduation pictures in the UCF fountain. So sweet and exciting. Fly, little UCF birdies!- Letting Stanley drink out of his favorite purple cup. He doesn't like to drink out of his water bowl, but he's a champ at drinking out of a cup. I think he's a genius. - Hanging out with Gracie as she wraps up her last year in middle school. I'm sad. I'm proud. I'm old. But mostly, I'm so very lucky she is mine.

On Saturday, Gracie was volunteering at a beach clean up so it was just me, Chris, and Bean for the day. We decided we would run some errands and grab lunch while Bean drove us all over town. The first stop we had to make was by Chris’s theater so he could run in and speak to a new group of teachers who were attending a training that morning. “Fifteen minutes,” he said as he jumped out of the car. Michael and I hung out in the car while we waited. I had my Kindle with me and Bean played on his phone.

I woke up this morning with this feeling of IMPENDING DOOM. You know what I mean? It’s like waking up with your own personal little gray cloud hanging over your head. I thought maybe that sense of IMPENDING DOOM was because the night before we discovered that Gracie’s hamster, Chip, had died. Poor little guy. But he lived a good hamster life. RIP, buddy.

Have you guys seen this new trend on social media where people are taking pictures of their pets and asking ChatGPT or whatever AI you prefer to turn their pets into humans??? This is a rabbit hole you want to go down, people. Trust me. Yesterday around 5:30pm, my sister sent me a picture of her “humanized” dogs. I didn’t know about the social media trend, so I thought Ginny was just sitting around the house and randomly decided to ask the internets to make her dogs human.

My mom planned her wedding by herself. Every now and then she would reach out and ask for a second opinion on something, but she really did it all by herself. So when my family got into town on Wednesday night, we spent the first two days downloading Mom’s vision for her wedding so that we could be her hands and feet while she was in bride mode. On Thursday, Ginny and I ran errands all day in preparation for the rehearsal dinner we were hosting at her house on Friday night.
