The note from Marci was in Spanish, so I translated it to make sure I understood. “Sorry to bother you, but I wanted to see if you could help us share this photo of a dog to see if anyone could adopt her. Her owner just passed away, and she was thrown out onto the street.”The dog’s name was Muneca, which means “doll” in Spanish. Marci attached a photo of a dog with very long ears lying on the ground. Marci added, “She’s a very good dog.”“That poor dog!” my husband, Peter, said.

Following closures of certain areas of William O’Brien State Park in March 2024 for renovations, visitors will be able to once again enjoy the Riverway Campground, hiking trails, boat launch and Walter Mondale Day Use Area again come May. William O’Brien Park Manager Wayne Boerner recently gave an update to the Marine on St. Croix City Council to let residents and visitors know that the project is going smoothly and that much of what was closed to the public will soon be open again.

And after experiencing this disease firsthand, I had a deeply personal reason to mention that April is Sarcoidosis Awareness Month. 3,000 eggs and countingEvery year around Easter, families seek out some fun in the form of Easter egg hunts. One of the longest-standing Easter egg hunts in the Scandia community is held at Meister's Bar and Grill. Going on its 17th year April 19, the community is invited to bring kids of all ages to hunt for elusive eggs, meet the Easter Bunny, and enjoy a day of light-hearted fun to celebrate Easter time.
