After a lawsuit halting the development of the Osceola Bluffs apartment complex in the Village of Osceola was dismissed in March of this year, demolition of the former Osceola Medical Center site is likely to take place in summer.

Following closures of certain areas of William O’Brien State Park in March 2024 for renovations, visitors will be able to once again enjoy the Riverway Campground, hiking trails, boat launch and Walter Mondale Day Use Area again come May. William O’Brien Park Manager Wayne Boerner recently gave an update to the Marine on St. Croix City Council to let residents and visitors know that the project is going smoothly and that much of what was closed to the public will soon be open again.

Since I was a little boy, I’ve been traveling to the shores, harbors and tributaries of Lake Michigan. Some of my earliest childhood vacation memories are from Door County, Wisconsin where my family would travel every year in the fall. Ever since then, Lake Michigan has held a special place in my heart that I feel obligated to return to year after year. Those yearly vacations to Door County are where it all started.

Experts say spring dryness could go either wayDue to dry conditions, burn restrictions and fire risks have popped up in several areas of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Some might point to a dry winter as the cause of dry spring conditions, but Twin Cities Meteorologist Nick Carletta says there’s more to it than that. According to him, dry conditions could continue or improve and are more reliant on spring precipitation than lack of snow. “We had an overall fairly dry winter,” said Carletta.
