Del Norte Triplicate, which used to be known as The Daily Triplicate, is a semi-daily newspaper released on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It is located in Crescent City, California. The newspaper is owned by Western Communications, the same company that publishes The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon.

Memorial Day 2025 remembers the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice overseas in preserving the way of life and culture in America. Veterans of Foreign War Post Commander Lt. Colonel David Cooper welcome the audience of about 200, including the Del Norte High School Marching Band. Colonel Cooper also chimed the bell for each of the 44 Del Norters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Hit and Run Fatality suspect Alexandra Diehl will be back in Court June 12, at 8:30am, Dept 1, when Superior Court Judge Karen Olson kyboshed a plea agreement for Alexandra Danielle Diehl, 33. 80 year old Peter Jun Ming Nip was struck in a hit and run collision at the intersection of Madison Ave and Northcrest Dr. December 4, last year. According to the CHP Report, Nip was walking to his home, in a marked crosswalk while pushing a shopping cart when a Nissan Rogue driven by Diehl struck him.

TheCrescent Fire Protection District held elections for a new chairman and vice chairman, at its recent meeting at the Washington St. Fire Station. The new chairman is Jim Erler and the new vice chair is newly- appointed commissioner Jon Maxwell. The service term will be for two years. In other business, during Public Comments, Commissioner Maxwell questioned whether he was compelled to comment in retort, asking Fire Chief Kevin Carey for advise. “Can’t we just say nothing?” Maxwell stated.

The Board of Supervisors recognized May as Mental Health Awareness month and a group of mentally ill individuals who appeared en mass at the May 13 Board meeting. Many carried signs declaring NO STIGMA associated with those afflicted with mental illness. The Dept. of Health and Human Service told supervisors that one in eight people live with a mental health disorder, according to the World Health Organization.

The theme for 2025 National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 18-24 was “We Care for Everyone.”The Del Norte County Board of Supervisors recognized and honored Del Norte Ambulance for its 40 plus years of “Caring for Everyone “ at a recent Board meeting. The Crescent Fire Department has lobbied a slim majority of supervisors to re-evaluate DNAMB’s Agreement by hiring a consultant to shop the market for alternative emergency services.
