Jewish Community Celebrates Passover

The Jewish Community began the week-long celebration of Passover, April 12. The eight day holiday commemorates the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The Celebration commemorates with a special meal called a Seder and the eating of un-leavened bread called matzah. The story of Passover is recounted in reading from the Haggadah, the ritual account of the Exodus story.

Superintendent Jeff Harris and the School Board are now reaching out internationally. Six Special Ed Teachers from the Philippines have recently joined the DNUSD staff to fill the void on the District’s frustration in attempting to higher Certificated staff.

Assemblymember Chris Rogers(D-CA2) paid a visit to Crescent City, Wednesday. ASM Rogers greeted supporters at the Paragon Coffeehouse, from 11-1pm, with a changing and revolving audience of about 20 folks who asked questions and made Rogers aware of their concerns. Rogers prevailed over local School Board Trustee Michael Greer over the five county district, last, November.
Man’s Best Friend Adoption Day at Bayside

Dogs of Del Norte sponsored an adoption event for Man’s Best Friend, last Saturday. The 2nd annual adoption event was a big success in finding homes for these canines in an extremely over-crowded animal shelter. Funds were collected with the sale of raffle tickets. Additionally, there was an unannounced donation event for the sale of guitars from Pelican Bay State PrisonAlissa from Dogs of Del Norte 508 Dogs have been placed in Del Norte home over the year 2024.
Harbor and Elks Partner to Promote RV Parks

The Crescent City Harbor District (CCHD) and the Crescent City Elks Lodge #1689 have entered into a partnership aimed and promoting and enhancing the RV experience at both Redwood Harbor Village RV Park (RHV), formerly the Anchorage RV Park and a Bayside RV Park (Bayside). RHV has been vacant for multi-years. Bayside is partially occupied but has been in disrepair for an extended period of time.

A letter from the Del Norte Fire Chiefs Association to the Del Norte Board of Supervisors, purportedly sent in March of 2023, has been made public. The Triplicate contacted four acknowledged signatories noted on the letter to share with community the rationale for opposing Del Norte Ambulance (DNAMB) request to “grandfather” the 9-1-1 Emergency Service for a company which has provided emergency services for over 40 years, without serious malfeasance or questionable incidents.

Sutter Coast Hospital hosted its second annual Healthcare Exploration, last Tuesday at Sutter Coast Hospital. Carroll Christie, MD, Chief Health Executive at Sutter Coast and teacher Colly Klein welcomed 34 preschoolers for a two session introduction to the world of medicine at Sutter Coast Hospital. Kids learned about X-Rays, Echo Cardiogram demonstrations, an interactive replica of one’s lungs, kids experienced stethoscopes and listened to their heart beat pumps.

Up for agenda review was an update of the Del Norte Ambulance Exclusive Operating Area permit, including the appointment of a member of the Del Norte Board of Supervisors to the Ad Hoc Emergency Ambulance Competitive Bid Committee.
