French restaurant Chloe by Vincent in the Mill District is starting lunch service four days a week. Restore Restaurant Holdings, which also owns EaTo, and chef Vincent Francoual opened Chloe by Vincent in late 2022. The plan was always to add lunch service, but until recently the demand wasn’t there, Matt Monroe, president of Restore Restaurant Holdings, told Downtown Voices. “What it really took was seeing business boom at EaTo, for one, and talking with our regulars there,” Monroe said.

Minneapolis is conducting a statewide search for artists to create a mural or sculpture honoring the significance of St. Anthony Falls to Indigenous people, particularly the Dakota, at Water Works Park. The City’s Arts & Cultural Affairs department and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board issued a call for artists and distributed it to tribal nations and Native-led organizations in late March.

Alongside its broader downtown dashboard, the Downtown Council has developed a comprehensive retail inventory, featuring data on every retail space in Downtown East and West, North Loop, Elliot Park, and Loring Park, including the entire skyway system.

A longtime Midwest Mountaineering employee just opened an outdoor adventure gear store in the North Loop. Lake State Mountaineering, located in the historic Kildall Building at Washington Avenue and Fifth Street, primarily sells equipment for climbing, paddling, and camping. Steve Schreader launched the business online last April and moved into his new brick-and-mortar space in March, with his dog, Cinnamon, in tow.
