    Rahul joined the media as a freelance reporter and reporter for the business newspaper 'Aratuwa', a business newspaper in Sri Lanka from 2004 and then in 2005 worked as the Southern Provincial Executive Officer for that news for about a year. Diploma in Environmental Journalism from Sri Lanka in 2006. He also holds a Post Graduate Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Jayewardenepura in 2016 and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Mass Media from the University of Colombo. Later he participated in a number of courses and workshops related to journalism to increase my knowledge of journalism. He is currently working as an Environmental and investigative Journalist and has had the opportunity to receive awards and certificates on a number of occasions, including the Certificate of Merit at competitions held by the Research Media Center of Sri Lanka as well as IWPR. He has worked as a journalist for the BBC Sinhala section as well as as a freelance journalist for several newspapers including Ada, Derana TV and currently works as a journalist for eylonnews24.com and eylonnews24.net. Also, with the enactment of the Freedom of Information Act in Sri Lanka in 2016, he started writing news and features as well as investigative articles using the Freedom of Information Act, for which he received a Merit Award in 2019 at the Media Excellence Awards held by the Government as well as the Sri Lanka Press Institute. He also had the opportunity to attend the World Conference of Exploratory Journalists in Hamburg, Germany in 2019 and share my experience of using the Freedom of Information Act among journalists in India. He is currently working as a trainer at the Investigative Media Center in Sri Lanka as well as a journalist who provides investigative articles for the institute.

    When a rhino mom charges to protect her little one from a threat, she puts her all into it. Despite her poor eyesight, she rushes towards the danger with precision, placing her tanklike body between her young and the menace where possible. The no-holds-barred approach to saving her offspring leaves few would-be attackers unscathed. This level of resolution has been largely lacking in the global (human) community’s efforts to enforce a ban on the trade in rhinos’ horns.
