El Nuevo Sol

El Nuevo Sol is a digital initiative from the Spanish journalism program at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Launched in the fall of 2003, it began as a four-page addition to the student newspaper, The Daily Sundial. Over time, a dedicated team of students, educators, and journalists has evolved this project into a digital and multimedia platform for Spanish journalism.

Now, the threats to our family that I faced as a child have returned…I felt that familiar fear. On March 17, 1966, photographer John Kouns joined the farmworker pilgrimage from Delano to Sacramento, California, alongside 67 marchers who wanted to increase awareness of the grape strike led by the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) and its fight for recognition as a union. Their goal was to raise awareness about the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) grape strike, and its struggle for union recognition.
