    The Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) has officially opened its shore power facility. With an expected 100 calls per year, this initiative is projected to reduce approximately three metric tons of particulate matter, 100 metric tons of nitrogen and 4.8 metric kilotons of CO2. The ceremonial handover took place at Harlingen Seaport, in the presence of stakeholders from both companies. The MV Vertom Joyce has a diesel-electric propulsion system. A power management system ensures optimal energy efficiency while a box-shaped hold and lower propulsion demand cut emissions and fuel use.

    The Sanmar-built ElectRA Series tug, named Trapananda, has been loaded aboard a transport ship to be delivered to SAAM Towage’s operations serving ENAP (Empresa Nacional del Petróleo) in Puerto Montt, Chile, where it will reportedly become the first fully electric tug to operate in Latin America. ElectRA Series tugs are the product of Sanmar’s collaboration with Robert Allan and battery supplier Corvus Energy.
