Early landing doors were scissor grates, with an inner accordion-style metal door, colloquially called a birdcage, that kept passengers safely inside the car.

Sobha Realty has launched Sobha Central, a landmark project on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, Gulf Business reports. The urban, mixed-use project will feature six towers, 160,000 ft2 of high-street retail, 250,000 ft2 of green parks and 175,000 ft2 of leasable office space. The first tower, The Horizon, is due for completion in December 2029 and will feature 1,225 new one- and two-bedroom residences.
