My own liberalism is even informed by certain conservative insights into human nature and society. But this intellectual focus sits uneasily with longstanding hostility toward the Republican Party, America’s vehicle for the political right. For a brief period (2000 through 2002), I voted for the GOP.

    Sorry, no audio version of this post from me today. In the aftermath of the Big Move, my whole family has come down with colds. If I tried to record this post, the result would be unlistenable, with coughs and sniffles causing constant interruptions to the flow of words.
