The Fairborn Daily Herald is a daily newspaper based in Fairborn, Ohio, catering to the local community as well as neighboring areas like Enon, Yellow Springs, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. FAIRBORN — Each year the Fairborn Art Association (FAA) and the Fairborn Lions Club co-sponsor the annual Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival. It will be held at Community Park, 691 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on August 16, as well as 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on August 17. This is the 43rd year for the popular festival. Two people are selected by the Lions Club as king and queen and were crowned in the June FAA meeting.

FAIRBORN — In conjunction with the City of Fairborn’s Independence Day celebration, the Fairborn Art Association presents a one-day-only Virtual Art Show celebrating Fairborn’s 75th Anniversary. The show may be viewed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 4 at Spark Fairborn, located at 305 W. Main Street. The show is free and open to the public, and it features original artwork that highlights Fairborn’s history.

Courtesy | Fairborn City Schools The City of Fairborn and Fairborn police and fire departments are hosting sessions called “Safety City” this summer for Fairborn elementary students. Open to students heading into first grade after moving on from kidnergarten, those attending have received the opportunity to learn about traffic, bus and fire safety, in addition to other important tips in a miniture environment created with streets, sidewalks, stop signs, traffic lights and cars.

SPRING VALLEY — The June 23 Farm Forum Picnic is coming soon. The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Walton Park in Spring Valley. The park is located on the south side of Spring Valley and can be reached from the North off State Route 42 by taking Old Rt. 42m or if coming from the South from SR725 by taking the Main Street exit to Spring Valley and turning onto Elm Street to get to Walton Park. The Park has a nice shelter house which will be used for the meeting.
