Planning & Buildings Rural businesses in England are waiting years, sometimes even decades, to get planning permission to enable investment and build homes, said CLA. The CLA approached 38 councils in England where over half the population lives in rural areas. In total, 35 responded to its Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. The findings show:Lengthy delays: Eight councils exceeded the government’s target time to issue decisions in 2023, with delays stretching from weeks to years.

Food & Drink Tesco has confirmed that it is beginning a trial in which it will be giving away expiring food to customers for free with the aim to cut food waste. A number of Tesco Express stores will take part in the trial where some remaining food will be available for customers through the tills at no charge. It is expected to be available after 9.30 pm.
