Pro rodeo returns to Midnight Stadium this month with an additional night of entertainment. Pro rodeo made a triumphant return last year to Fort Macleod after a 43-year absence. More than 4,500 people packed into the refurbished outdoor arena at Midnight Stadium for two rodeo performances. “Everybody is excited again this year,” Fort Macleod Agricultural Society vice-president Thane Hurlburt said.

Two men who have committed nearly four decades apiece to coaching F.P. Walshe school athletes were honoured recently. Andrew Walmsley and Craig Patton were recognized for their service as coaches and role models during the annual Blue and White Night. Walmsley and Patton were inducted in 2009 into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame for their work as rugby pioneers in southern Alberta. Both coaches received the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022 for their dedication to rugby.

Now the man Fort Macleod knew as Don the Barber is cleaning out his Second Avenue shop to make way for Brian Ancelet, who is taking over. The barber shop is filled with curiosities that Don the Barber collected over the years, and he’s now busy finding new homes for some of those items. Some items are proving easy to place.
