Fort Macleod is celebrating its elders in style this month. Fort Macleod Healthy Aging, Pioneer Lodge and Fort Macleod Library have activities planned for Seniors’ Week and beyond. Pie and coffee or tea will be served to citizens aged 55 years and over from 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 6. Health Aging Alberta is hosting a social gathering in the courtyard at the G.R. Davis Administration Building.

Tyson Knauf’s lifelong interest in insects led him to a decision to raise bees. That decision to buy two beehives has led to a honey sales business he operates as a side hustle with his wife. “I jumped in with both feet about five years ago,” Knauf said. “It’s been a lot of fun.”Knauf was guest speaker May 20 at the Fort Macleod Library as part of its World Bee Day celebration.

Fort Macleod Volleyball Club topped its previous record Wednesday with a $25,000 donation to STARS air ambulance. Club members presented the donation of money raised in April during the annual 60-team volleyball tournament to STARS community engagement officer Vanessa Mickel. “All of our community fund-raising events go towards operations,” Mickel said.
