• The South African government has implemented a Digital Nomad Visa which allows foreign nationals who earn a sufficient minimum income according to government regulations to reside in South Africa and perform work as a freelancer or for an employer outside of South Africa. • Digital Nomad Visa holders conducting work for more than six months within a 36-month period would require the applicant to register with the South African Revenue Services. • The Department of Home Affairs will publish further details on the program in an official gazette in the coming months.

Kenya has implemented a Digital Nomad Visa, which allows individuals who are employed by a company outside the country to work remotely from Kenya or as freelancers for an employer outside of Kenya. Eligibility requirements include a sufficient minimum income according to government regulations, proof of accommodation in Kenya, and a clean criminal record, among other requirements. This new category provides an immigration pathway for remote workers, which was previously not available.

• The Venezuelan government has ordered all Venezuelan diplomatic personnel in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru and Uruguay to return to Venezuela and has ordered these countries to remove their representatives from Venezuela. As a result, individuals with applications at consular posts in these countries, and in these countries’ consular posts in Venezuela, should expect processing disruptions until further notice. • There are flight disruptions between Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, Panama and Peru. • Ongoing protests in Venezuela are limiting access to government offices which may delay the processing of immigration-related applications filed in country. • The situation is fluid, and we are updating this alert as new information becomes available. • Fragomen is working with affected clients on a case-by-case basis.
