Genius

Genius

Genius is a web-based knowledge platform that enables users to add insights and explanations to song lyrics, news articles, primary documents, poetry, and various other texts. Originally launched in 2009 as Rap Genius, the platform initially centered around rap music. However, in 2014, it broadened its scope to include other media types like Pop, Literature, and R&B, while also introducing features that allow users to embed annotations on different websites. That same year, Genius launched its iPhone app, and in July 2014, the site rebranded to simply Genius to align with its expanded focus. An Android app followed in August 2015.

The K-pop boy band BOYNEXTDOOR’s latest EP, No Genre, might reject categories, but it embraces plenty of other things: freedom, youth, vulnerability, growth, and above all, authenticity. In a perfect world, there would be no war. Nations would compete for treasure and territory by sending their most talented and photogenic pop stars to a neutral location, where they would attempt to out-sing and out-emote each other over the course of several glorious days. People would vote by telephone, and hooks would forever replace swords.
