The Opposition has committed $3 million to the second stage of North Bendigo’s recreation reserve redevelopment and $500,000 to Malone Park upgrades in Marong. The project will see improved change rooms, new lighting and female-friendly facilities.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at an Epsom tobacco store this morning. It’s understood the offenders attempted to crash a vehicle into the front of the Howard Street store, just before 3:30am. After they were unsuccessful due to bollards being in place, they set the front of the store alight before fleeing.

Several people have been arrested following the launch of a police operation, designed to curb crime and anti-social behavior in the Bendigo CBD. Operation Landslide has seen officers stationed at the Bendigo Marketplace, local railway station and the Hargreaves Mall. It follows an incident earlier this month where a group of youths allegedly assaulted a security guard and a member of the public at the Bendigo Marketplace.

Two teenagers have been arrested after an investigation into alleged assaults in the Bendigo CBD last month. In the early hours of February 9th, two 28-year-old local men were allegedly assaulted by a group of teens on Bull Street. Both were taken to hospital, with one suffering serious injuries. Four teenagers have been arrested following an alleged assault in Bendigo on Monday. It’s alleged the male security guard was approached by nine youths at a Mitchell Street shopping centre around 4pm. He was allegedly punched, kicked and dragged to the ground before members of the public intervened.
