Google

Google is a major American tech firm focused on services and products related to the Internet. Its offerings include online advertising, search engines, cloud computing, software, and hardware. Founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were pursuing their Ph.D. at Stanford University in California, they currently own about 14 percent of the company's shares and hold 56 percent of the voting rights due to their supervoting stock. Google was established as a private entity on September 4, 1998, and went public on August 19, 2004. The company later relocated to its headquarters in Mountain View, California, famously known as the Googleplex. In August 2015, Google revealed its plan to reorganize into a larger conglomerate called Alphabet Inc. Google remains the primary subsidiary of Alphabet, overseeing its Internet-related operations. Following this restructuring, Sundar Pichai took over as CEO of Google, succeeding Larry Page, who became the CEO of Alphabet.
