Brian Long, director of supply management research at GVSU’s Seidman College of Business, said his monthly survey of local businesses and purchasing managers reveals a local economy that has remained resilient so far.

Senior Ian McGuckin and his peers in the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy completed a chapter in their lives on April 24. McGuckin and the CLA’s Winter 2025 cohort — ready to take the next steps in their leadership journeys — celebrated their graduation from the program in a ceremony at the DeVos Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus. For McGuckin, his next steps begin shortly after the end of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Akbulut said ADA was developed in the wake of COVID-19 and the early emergence of ChatGPT. “My daughter was in middle school at the time,” Akbulut said. “She had designed herself a homework helper robot and found a way to get help for herself. So she told me, ‘You’re an IT professor. Why don’t you just come up with a robot so it can answer students’ questions?'”  After consulting with their Seidman colleagues, Akbulut and Gillespie constructed ADA to guide students through coursework and exercises.

Cybersecurity experts — from GVSU and West Michigan — gathered at the Eberhard Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus to discuss the technology’s future as well as honor and celebrate the College of Computing’s largest graduating class. The College’s biannual Innovation Day welcomed some of the region’s top tech leaders for a series of panel discussions on cybersecurity and its applications.
