This July 2024 issue of the Japanese fashion magazine ‘Men’s Fudge’ (メンズ ファッジ) is a special feature on the apparel of the characters from Taiyo Matsumoto’s manga universe, from PingPong, Tekkon Kinkreet to Tokyo Higoro. The cover itself is a very stylish illustration painted by the artist himself. I know absolutely nothing about fashion and also have zero fashion sense, so I’m not sure if the apparel featured in the magazine are indeed stylish or not.

It is always a delightful surprise whenever I get to discover artists and painters that are completely new to me, especially when I am utterly enthralled by their work. This is the case with James Tissot, a very recent find for me after chancing upon one of his paintings posted on my twitter stream.

I’ve been a big fan of British fashion photography Tim Walker ever since I discovered his work through his big hardcover pictorial ‘Pictures’, which I reviewed way back in 2012. I’m particularly impressed by the meticulous work he puts into the elaborate set dressing of his shoots, all carefully art directed to tell fascinating stories through arresting images.
