Iowa's quarterback commit in the 2026 class, Cash Herrera, is starting to pick up steam in his recruitment from elsewhere. In recent days, both Arizona and Cal have offered Herrera. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback was initially offered by Iowa in June of 2024 and announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes on Oct. 3, 2024. When he committed to Iowa, Herrera also held offers from schools such as Colorado State, Minnesota, San Diego State, UCLA, Virginia Tech and Washington State.

One of Iowa's top transfer portal additions during the spring window was former Ferris State offensive lineman Bryce George. George played in 41 games and started 38 during his Ferris State career. The 6-foot-5, 314-pound offensive lineman was a two-time All-GLIAC selection and was a 2024 Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America First Team honoree. While at Ferris State, George won three Division II national championships.

After reaffirming his commitment to Iowa in April, class of 2026 guard Navon Shabazz has now decommitted from the Hawkeyes. Hawkeye Insider's Sean Bock broke the news that Shabazz had decommitted from Iowa and that former Hawkeye head coach and current Penn men's basketball coach Fran McCaffery had offered. Shabazz is ranked as a three-star combo guard by 247Sports. 247Sports rates Shabazz as the nation's No. 21 combo guard and as the No. 4 player from Iowa.

Former Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson and defensive tackle Yahya Black signed their rookie contracts with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Another former Iowa duo have inked their rookie contracts as well. Iowa tight end Luke Lachey and offensive guard Connor Colby signed with the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. Luke Lachey departs Iowa after playing in 42 games and starting 24. Former Iowa linebacker Nick Jackson is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. Fox Sports' Greg Auman broke the news of the signing. Jackson spent two seasons in Iowa City, tallying 201 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 11 pass breakups, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception. The 6-foot, 237-pound linebacker registered 555 career tackles, which ranked as the second-most in FBS history. Jackson's 73 collegiate games are the most in NCAA history.
