    The USD 410 Board of Education met on Monday, March 11 for their monthly meeting and heard from Stacey Parks, the director of the Marion County Special Education Cooperative (MCSEC). Parks told the board that she has been with MCSEC for over 25 years and previously served as a speech pathologist. She said her goal as director is to ensure that employees feel equally supported by the cooperative and their respective districts.

    Tanynn Yoder is the Kansas 6 & Under state champion for girls wrestling after winning the Kansas 6U State Championship on Sunday, March 9 in Salina. She started wrestling when she was five. “This was her second full season. She’s got a lot of fire, and she’s got that competitive spirit. That definitely plays a big part in her success,” said dad Jacob. Jacob also serves as one of Tanynn’s coaches at Hillsboro Wrestling Club where Tanynn wrestles. “I wrestled since I was five.

    St. Luke Hospital and Living Center in Marion recently changed their mission statement after months of working through what they wanted the statement to say. The new statement is “Our mission is to serve our communities by providing excellent healthcare with compassion”. CEO Alex Haines said the decision to change the statement came from the board’s strategic retreat this past summer. “The question was is our mission statement still valid? Are we happy with it?

    Learning people’s stories is what Patricia Enos of Marion enjoys about her job. Patricia and her husband Daryl own River Mill Woods at the Chisholm Trail Center (CTC) in Newton. She gets to know people’s stories through her side of the business, which is framing pictures and taking orders for shadow boxes used to display various items like snakeskins or family heirlooms. Other items they bring to Patricia include family photos, memorabilia from trips and their kids’ high school sports medals.
