Somehow I get the feeling that we make things too complicated. Have you heard the phrase, less is more? I like that. I’ve always tried to break down complicated stories into bite-size stories that are easy to understand. Advertisers, they know this. They’re experts in taking a complex story and breaking it down into an easy 10-second ad. And usually, if it’s done well, we remember that ad sometimes for years.

I’ve travelled quite a lot in planes over the years, so it’s no novelty anymore to fly. But I remember the first time I flew, listening to the safety measures and the drill, which are obligatory now on all air travel. You listen there and watched the folk go through the routine. The message was quite clear that if there was an emergency and the oxygen mask had to be fitted, what we were told was fit your own mask first and then help someone else in that particular order.

After talking back to the captain, whom they call Captain– Captain has to make Luke respect his authority by screaming at him, hitting him, and pushing him to the ground.

Have you noticed that during a difficult experience, some people withdraw from others and become like an island to protect themselves from harm and hurt? It’s just as Simon and Garfunkel sang in 1966, I am a rock, I am an island, and a rock feels no pain. And an island never cries. It’s actually a really nice song. It’s a good song about loneliness, detachment, and isolation, and it prompts the question, why do some of us move away from others? I think it probably happens to all of us at one point.
