They Never Saw It ComingBy John M. LarsenOne day in 1969, I was driving down State Street in Boise, heading for my home on O’Farrell Street, when an emergency vehicle sounded a warning as it came up behind me. I pulled over, the truck went by, and it turned on 5th Street. I followed it, and soon came upon a Cessna 210 D that had smashed into the street. What a BoonStory by and Photos Courtesy of John BeckwithI read a news article last year that proclaimed the old YMCA building in Kellogg was in such poor condition it could not be salvaged. As much as I liked and trusted my ‘89 SUV, it just didn’t have what it took anymore to go up White Bird grade without a struggle, which was getting to be embarrassing. We were passed as though we were standing still. Once again I stomped on the gas pedal. Once again came the sigh.
