Data from the Department for Levelling Up and Housing and Communities’ (DLUHC) monthly remediation report, shows that 58% of buildings identified with unsafe cladding are yet to start remediation works. Published on 18 January 2024, the release highlighted that in December 2023, a total of 3,839 buildings had been identified with unsafe cladding, and of those, 1608 have started or finished remediation works.

Landlords of a block of flats in Bristol have been ordered to fix cladding after surveyors found defects in the building. The case was brought to a residential property tribunal by two leaseholders residing in Orchard House, a five-storey building in Brislington. A fire risk assessment found several safety defects in the building, which was previously a 1960s office block, converted five years ago to 54 self-contained apartments.

While WiFi technology remains inherently reliable, mesh network topology is often seen as a ‘cut above’, at least as far as coverage, signals, and security are concerned. Mesh networks solve many of the connectivity issues around WiFi, particularly in premises where IoT (Internet of Things) devices cannot connect to networks reliably, or if they can, the resulting signal is poor. This only compounds a growing loss of trust in IoT as a technology.
