Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) said on Thursday that one worker was killed and four were injured in a limited fire that had been extinguished at the Mina Abdullah refinery's desulfurization unit. Two injured workers were taken to hospital for necessary medical treatment, KNPC added in a statement. KNPC did not say if production and operations were affected there due to the fire. India's Reliance Industries (RELI.NS) has shut a crude unit and some secondary units for maintenance for 21 days from this week at its 660,000 barrels-per-day domestic market-focussed refinery, trade sources familiar with the matter said. Reliance, operator of the world's biggest refining complex at Jamnagar in Western Gujarat state, has two refineries at the complex with a combined capacity to process about 1.4 million bpd of crude oil.

U.S. crude oil and natural gas output set records in December, and oil demand touched multi-month highs, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said in its Petroleum Supply Monthly report on Friday. Crude oil output hit 13.491 million barrels per day (bpd) in December, up from 13.314 million bpd in November and topping the prior all-time high of 13.436 million in October, the EIA said.
