    If you’re “some bunny” who drives impaired this Easter weekend, beware that law enforcement is on the look out for you. The Charles City and New Hampton police departments are among the agencies participating in the Special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP) starting Friday (04.18) and continuing through next Tuesday (04.22). The latest sTEP comes with special emphasis on impaired driving, seatbelt and speeding violations, along with texting while driving violations.

    Severe weather moved through north central and northeast Iowa early Friday (04.18)morning, with the first storms firing up around 3 am and second wave coming between 4:30 and 5:30 am. Severe thunderstorms warnings were issued for several counties including Franklin, Butler, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette, Cerro Gordo, Worth, Mitchell, Howard and Bremer, among others. The weather system brought wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail, ranging from quarter size to up to tennis ball-sized in Franklin County.
