ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is expanding spring burning restrictions in the state. Beginning Tuesday the restrictions on open burning of vegetative debris will apply to Carlton, Itasca and southern St. Louis Counties and starting next Monday in Cook, Lake, Koochiching and northern St. Louis Counties. The DNR will not issue permits for open burning of brush or yard waste in those counties until restrictions are lifted.
Duluth Man Arrested On Multiple Charges

DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A 42 year old Duluth man is facing a variety of charges for several incidents early on Monday morning. The man allegedly was running down the hallway of the Zenith apartment building on the 200 block of North 1st Avenue East with a fire extinguisher and pulled the fire alarm. He then broke into an apartment, stole a firearm and discharged it in the hallway before fleeing. Officers saw him hiding among the residents evacuating the building and he discarded the firearm.

DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Two residents of an apartment damaged by a fire Sunday night in Duluth have been displaced. The Duluth Fire Department was called to a commercial space at 2204 Piedmont Avenue with an apartment located above it. Smoke was coming from the back side of the upper floor and the tenants had evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. The fire did an estimated 80 thousand dollars in damage and the cause is being investigated by the Duluth Fire Marshal.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, WI (KDAL) – Several law enforcement agencies responded to reports of an armed home invasion Sunday near the Village of Oliver. Douglas County Sheriff Deputies and the Wisconsin State Patrol contained the area on Highway 105 and the County Special Response Team was activated. The situation was considered dangerous but there were no injuries reported as the suspect was located and taken into custody.

MEADOWLANDS TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accident on Friday evening in Meadowlands Township. First responders were called to the 7800 block of Blue Spruce Road at 6:52 p-m on reports of a person run over by a vehicle. Despite life saving efforts by emergency personnel, the adult female victim died at the scene. The preliminary investigation shows the incident was unintentional and all the parties involved have been identified.

Anyone planning to fly on a domestic flight or enter a federal building will need the Real I-D driver’s license, approved identification card or a passport. If you still need one, the St. Louis County Auditor’s Service Center at the Miller Mall can process applications for Minnesota Real I-D driver’s licenses and identification cards. Remember it takes about six weeks to receive the card after applying.
