DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A combination of hot temperatures, high humidity and possible severe storms are in the forecast for this weekend across the Northland. The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the region on Saturday and Sunday as Heat Index readings could top a 100 in areas inland from Lake Superior. An east wind on Friday and Saturday should keep it cooler in the Twin Ports and the north shore but Sunday looks to be around 90 throughout the area.

DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – There will be a record number of runners and spectators at this year’s Grandma’s Marathon and associated races in Duluth. Organizers are urging the tens of thousand visitors to arrive on Thursday if possible and avoid what is expected to be heavy traffic and delays on Friday. Adding to the traffic issues is the ongoing work on I-35 in Duluth and in the Hinckley area where single lanes and some ramp closures will likely cause considerable backups especially on Friday afternoon.
