Two Grandin residents suffered serious injuries in an accident involving ATVs. The Highway patrol says that a 16-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man were both injured when an ATV driven by a 13-year-old boy, side-swiped the ATV the 16-year-old was driving, causing him to overturn, and then was hit by the ATV the 26-year-old man was driving. Both of the injured were taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. The accident happened on Carter County Road 251, ten miles north of Grandin.

On Sunday, the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a man on drug charges. Deputies executed a felony drug warrant arrest for Jonathan Martin, of Winona. Martin was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class D Felony under Missouri state law. He was transported and booked into the Shannon County Jail, where he remains in custody. Additional charges may be filed. The Shannon County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a woman on multiple active warrants.

On Friday, the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic assault in progress in Birch Tree. Upon arrival, he observed the victim locked inside a vehicle, visibly frightened. The suspect was in a separate vehicle, shouting obscenities and making threats. As he approached the suspect to assess the situation, she became verbally aggressive and began making threats toward him. She then lit a marijuana pipe in his presence.

Friday morning, the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man at Dollar General in Birch Tree. Deputy Roberts observed a maroon Pontiac G6 parked after hours at the Dollar General in Birch Tree. Upon contact, he identified the passenger as Terry Levi Puckett, who stated the vehicle wouldn’t start and that the driver had left to retrieve tools. Shannon County Central Dispatch confirmed Puckett is on probation for theft.
