Quick, spell the word "Entrepreneur." Don't feel bad, I couldn't do it without spellcheck either. But there are several elementary and middle school students throughout South Dakota who can easily spell that word, and much more difficult ones, and these students are going to get the chance to show off their mad spelling skills on Saturday (March 29) when they compete in the South Dakota State Spelling Bee in Mitchell.

Goodbye brutal South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota winters....hello sunny springtime!Soon South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota will see greener grass, bluer skies, longer days, and some woodland creatures waking up from a long winter slumber. Welcome to spring! It might not totally feel like spring quite yet here in the Sioux Empire, but according to the calendar Thursday, (March 20) is the first official day of spring. The season of spring officially arrived at 4:01 AM this morning. That means the days will start getting nicer, sunnier, and longer moving forward, in theory. Keep in mind, this is South Dakota we are talking about, so, anything is possible, especially when it comes to the weather.

Despite the name, mobile homes mostly stay in one place. Mobile home living can be an affordable way of life without the larger home hassle. Of course, there are drawbacks. Trailer walls can be so thin that trying to hang a picture can make the home shake like a Jenga tower. And many "mobile-homers" have chased stray cats, skunks, and an entire family of badgers from under the home. Tornados are not friendly to mobile home parks. Most parks have a shelter nearby to use if the weather is threatening.
