KWIT (90.3 FM) serves as the National Public Radio affiliate for Sioux City, Iowa, and the surrounding areas in northwestern Iowa. The station features a blend of NPR shows and classical music. It is owned by Western Iowa Tech Community College and also runs a full-time satellite station, KOJI (90.7 FM), located in Okoboji, Iowa. Notably, KWIT is the largest NPR station in Iowa that is not affiliated with Iowa Public Radio.

The bill sets aside nearly $14 million for fixing damaged homes and for demolishing hazardous buildings.     Catholic leaders in the region are mourning the death of Pope Francis on Monday with messages celebrating his leadership and compassion. The Most Reverend Walker Nickless, who is Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Sioux City, in a statement said he was honored to meet Pope Francis in January 2020 at the Vatican. “My brother bishops and I found him to be very warm and welcoming and an attentive listener. He was very encouraging to us in our shared challenges as bishops,” Nickless said.

    People in Storm Lake, Iowa, have had a challenging Friday, in the aftermath of a storm wallop that caused extensive damage and put all properties without power. The storm went through overnight, and at about 1 p.m. all MidAmerican Energy power went out for nearly 6,500 homes and businesses. MidAmerican crews were working with downed power lines and broken poles and trees, and estimated that it might be until 8 pm until power was entirely restored.
